When is the best time to come to Cape Charles?  April, May, September & October are some of the most beautiful months. The town is always laid-back, but is busier on weekends in June, July and August when the Inn tends to fill up on weekends. Always call and make your reservation as soon as you can in advance. If you’re considering coming mid-week, please be aware many stores, some restaurants and activities are closed Mon., Tues. or Wed.

What is there to do in Cape Charles?  It is a quiet little town known for the beach, boating, golfing and relaxation. Visit our “Things to Do” page for more information.

Is there any shopping or night life?  No.

Is this a waterfront property? No, although you can see the harbor and the Chesapeake Bay in the distance from the verandah, the Inn is 2 blocks from the harbor and the town’s sandy beach on the Chesapeake Bay.  There are no waterfront hotels.

Can we swim in the Atlantic Ocean?  To visit a public ocean beach or to swim in the ocean, you could go 60 miles north to Assateague Island, VA, there is a beautiful National Seashore Park there with public beaches (admission cost).  The town of Virginia Beach is 35 miles south and has free public beaches (cost to park and to cross the bridge)

How far are you from the Bridge?  Cape Charles is 8 miles north of The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, which is a 17 mile span.  Please note the current toll is $12 one-way with a $5 return trip within 24 hours, they accept cash only, and EZ Pass.
